Local musos will remember Sarah Griffiths as the head-girl from The Bollweevils, a local group that balanced precariously on the edge of success before being well and truly dumped on by their management company which resulted in (as local legend has it) the band's drummer losing his vast kit as part payment for recording debts incurred.
Didn't this experience leave you a little wary about starting out again?
"No, it made me determined to have another crack at it. The rest of the band gave up playing music which was a bit sad, but with me and Mark it was all we ever really wanted to do. It was good fun to get another band together 'cos we'd been in The Bollweevils for years and it was fun getting new people in."
At that moment one of the said new people, Clare arrives to join us. Do you think this band's better?
"Absolutely" chirps bassist Hugh who's also just entered the room.
"I'm having a much better time" continues Sarah. "It's difficult to really say 'cos we were good at the time, but personally I'm enjoying this band loads more."
Her enjoyment has seen her through the less than happy experience of a particularly nightmare gig in Leeds that led guitarist Mark to exclaim when he broke a string "Fuck 'em, this venue's only worth five fuckin' strings anyway."... John Chapman, SAM '96
